
Geotechnical & Construction Services Group Manager
Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately-held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast.
GMC is seeking a full-time, experienced Geotechnical Engineer / Manager to join our Geotechnical & Construction Services Division in our Nashville Tennessee office. In this position, the candidate will be managing an existing geotechnical/construction materials testing department in the Nashville office and will have the opportunity to grow the department. The candidate will be working alongside other civil engineers and architects in the Nashville office.
Essential Job Functions Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Client and business development
- Manage field technicians and accredited laboratory
- Perform field sampling of engineering materials as needed
- Supervise drilling subcontractors
- Perform site evaluations
- Perform and supervise laboratory testing
- Prepare technical reports
- Manage project activities and budgets
- Work with project managers on other assigned tasks
- Invoicing and budget tracking
- Effective communication skills
- Travel as needed for projects
Basic Qualifications:
- BS in Civil Engineering
- 6+ years’ experience
- 6+ years’ experience performing geotechnical and CMT projects
- PE licensure in Tennessee required within 6 months of hire date
Technical Requirements
- Microsoft PC applications; GINT, LPILE, AutoCad experience a plus
- Need good technical report writing skills
- Knowledge of ASTM guidelines
Other Qualities
- Client management and nosiness development experience a plus
- Ability to work independently
- Multitask and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills
- Supervise staff
- Travel as needed for projects
- Group management experience a plus
This is a full-time position with competitive pay based on experience.
