Senior Site Civil Engineer

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately-held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast; with offices located throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

GMC has an opening for Senior Site Civil Engineer to support on-going projects in Huntsville, AL office. This position will manage projects, prepare reports, site plans, permit documents, construction schedules, and studies as assigned.

Essential functions and responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate the work of assigned team members on multiple projects
  • Communicate with, reviews work, and coordinates efforts of other project team members
  • Provides guidance relating to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts and policy matters; and receives direction on unusual conditions and developments
  • Responsible for all aspects of project management- development, design, bidding, construction, and closeout
  • Responsible for enforcement of project delivery standards including technical, procedural, and CAD
  • Prepare reports, plans, construction schedules, and studies as assigned
  • Apply technical skills to routine projects with minimal supervision
  • Direct technicians for production of engineering documents for routine projects accurately and efficiently
  • Visit construction sites to observe progress and determine general conformance to engineering plans and specifications
  • QA/QC
    • Executes cross discipline checks and coordination
    • Reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance
    • Recognizes and reports risk management issues to Project Engineer as appropriate

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in Site Civil working with developers, architects, industries, or other applicable clients 
  • Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Engineering Licensure (PE) required, and ability to obtain licensure in AL 
  • Builds on technical foundations with the expectation to make significant contributions to the team efforts for the benefit of the client
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD software 
  • Experience with Civil3D is preferred

Travel requirements:

  • FIELD (20%) AND OFFICE (80%)
