GMC is actively seeking a Survey Manager to provide management and oversight of land surveying personnel and projects in our Birmingham, AL office. Responsibilities will include preparation, oversight and execution of proposals, scheduling, project deliverables and general survey management. Candidate must have extensive knowledge in performing and managing boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, subdivision platting and construction staking. 

Responsibilities

• Coordinates with various discipline leads on scheduling objectives and project milestones for various large-scale geomatics and surveying projects
• Approves a subset of more complex deliverables and surveys by analyzing reports, programming, client requirements, and other relevant information
• Performs in-process quality review of survey field activities, legal descriptions, maps, aerial photographs, calculations, and other diverse types of project deliverables
• Anticipates roadblocks and provides recommendations for resolution to ensure strong accuracy of survey work
• Communicates with clients pertaining to specific projects and attends client meetings
• Coordinates deliverables between clients, teaming partners, and other disciplines working on a project
• Mentors less experienced team members
• Performance evaluation of Survey employees
• Hiring and staffing of new Survey employees 
• Prepares project proposals
• Performs other duties as required

Job Requirements:

• Current Professional Land Surveyor license in the State of Alabama
• Minimum of 10 years of land surveying experience
• Minimum of 5 years of management experience
• Technical experience and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Collaboration with engineers and other design professionals
