Engineering Designer

Greenville, SC

GMC is looking for an engineering designer to join our team in Greenville, South Carolina.

FOUNDATIONAL

  • Builds on extensive technical foundations with expectation to make significant contributions to the team efforts for the benefit of the client.
  • Demonstrates ability to evaluate, select, and apply standards, techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features.
  • Understands technical requirements needed in the design of a project and how various disciplines are integrated to meet the needs of the client.
  • Independent performer on most assignments.

TECHNICAL

  • Produce plans and drawings as assigned with minimal instruction.
  • Read and produce legal descriptions.
  • Possesses thorough understanding of AutoCAD Land Desktop and Revit drafting programs and be skilled in its application.
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of surveying.
  • Prepares scopes, budgets and schedules for assignments.
  • Exercises broad knowledge of the design process and understands company technical standards.
  • Integrates multiple components of design (i.e. structural, civil, electrical, etc.).
  • Knowledge of codes and design in construction practices.
  • Ability to apply technical skills to routine projects with minimal supervision.
  • Visit construction sites to observe progress and to determine general conformance to engineering plans and specifications.
  • QA/QC
    • Executes cross discipline checks and coordination.
    • Recognizes and reports risk management issues to Senior Designer as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • EXPERIENCE
    • Minimum of 8 years
  • EDUCATION
    • Technical school or community college
    • AutoCAD and Revit proficiency required

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • FIELD (20%) AND OFFICE (80%)
    • This position requires work to be performed in an office environment and in the field. Work done in the field may consist of exposure to various types of weather and temperatures. Engineers may also be exposed to pollutants, chemicals, insects, and possibly water-borne pathogens, Employees are required to wear appropriate protective clothing and gear when performing fieldwork.

TRAVEL

  • Engineers will be expected to travel to various work sites to perform fieldwork. Company cars and/or rental vehicles shall be utilized to travel between work sites.
