Architecture Project Manager

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately-held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast.

GMC is actively seeking a full-time Architecture Project Manager in our Montgomery, Alabama office who is experienced in justice, correctional, commercial, educational, and government work. Applicants must have a professional degree, Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture, from an accredited university and a minimum of 5 years of experience. The primary role of the architecture project manager is to manage assigned architectural projects through preliminary design, construction document production, bidding and construction to ensure that the client’s goals are satisfied on time and within budget while obtaining project internal profitability goals. They serve as the primary contact for project assignments ensuring clear and concise information flow.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and nurture a good relationship with the client management consistent with company standards
  • Independently applies extensive diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments and related fields
  • Applies knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions
  • Responsible for financial goals, marketing plan and project/client development
  • Responsible for all aspects of project management-development, design, bidding, construction and close-out
  • Reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance
  • Develops new techniques and/or improved processes, materials or products
  • Responsible for the technical aspects of projects
  • Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Ability to produce and present conceptual project information to clients
  • Serves on company boards, committees as a representative
  • Supervises all staff necessary to complete assignments
  • Capable of producing construction documents independently or as part of a team
  • Reviews and approves scopes, budgets, and schedules for projects
  • Prepares proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for architectural projects or programs
  • Responsible for the financial management of projects
  • Receives supervision and guidance relating to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts and policy matters
  • Receives direction on unusual conditions and developments
  • Possesses advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Represents the Company in all aspects of projects and architectural assignments
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, decision making, time management and delegation skills

Qualifications:

  • A professional degree in architecture and a minimum of 5 years’ experience
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, MS Word, Excel & Project
  • Experience in Revit required
  • Must have an understanding of the requirements and function of commercial project types
  • Must be able to listen and communicate effectively
  • Must be a self-starter, team player and able to establish good working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, team members, and other employees
  • Must be able to perform work-related travel 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
